New Question Bank 2026: What Changed in Armenia's Theory Test

The theory test question bank on roadpolice.am now consists of two separate parts: one for categories A, B and C and one for D and T, with 10 groups in each. By our comparison of the old and new banks (Armenian language, A/B/C, groups 1–10), the new bank has 1,050 questions instead of 1,094. About 100 questions were removed, about 58 are new, and two Group 1 questions have a different correct answer. These are the numbers from our own comparison; the Ministry's official figures are below.

What the official page shows

The roadpolice.am page (checked on 5 October 2026) lists two banks:

  • for categories A, B and C: 10 groups;
  • for categories D and T: 10 groups.

Every group is available in five languages: Armenian, Russian, English, Arabic and Persian. Our 18 September article listed four languages; Persian is now added.

According to the Ministry's 2 October announcement, image quality has been improved and translation errors have been fixed.

When the new questions will appear in the exam

On 2 October 2026 the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that the new questions will be included in the tests 30 days after publication. The announcement gives no exact date: counting from 2 October, that is roughly 1 November 2026. Until then, questions from the previous bank may still appear in the exam, so confirm the exact date on roadpolice.am.

About our 18 September article

There we wrote that the Ministry of Internal Affairs had said on 1 September that no new questions were added and only the grouping changed, and that the A/B/C bank was not yet published. Since then the bank has been published and, by our comparison, it contains changes. The earlier article: What changed in 2026 in the driving exam rules.

Changes by group

We compared our previous question base with the new A/B/C bank (Armenian language) in early October.

Group Before Now Removed Added
1 147 145 14 12
2 72 82 7 17
3 78 59 19 0
4 176 179 5 8
5 135 136 1 2
6 95 95 3 3
7 134 129 11 6
8 80 55 28 3
9 126 119 11 4
10 51 51 3 3
Total 1,094 1,050 102 58

Group 8 shrank the most (80 to 55), and Group 2 got the most new questions (17). Group 3 only lost questions and gained none. We compared groups 1–10; Group 11 (colour tables) was not part of the comparison and we say nothing about it.

Note that many questions got a new number (684 of the 992 matched ones) and many were reworded slightly. Notes that use old question numbers may no longer match.

The Ministry's figures and our comparison

Per the Ministry's announcement, the A, B, C bank has 1,050 questions, 11 of them new; the D, T bank has 1,380 questions, 437 of them new. Our "about 58" is something different: a comparison with our previous question base by question text and answer options (the method is in the "How we counted" section). The figures do not match. The Ministry has not published how it counted new questions, so we cannot verify the reason for the gap and will not guess. Treat the Ministry's figure as the official one; ours is only a guide to which groups changed more.

How we counted

Of the 1,094 questions in the old base, we found 992 in the new one (sometimes under a different number or with slightly changed wording); the other 102 are not in the new bank, so they were removed. Of the 1,050 questions in the new bank, 992 match old ones and 58 are new (992 + 58 = 1,050). Matching was done on the question text and answer options, so very similar wordings may cause a small error. That is why we say "about 100" and "about 58".

Two questions with a changed answer

Both are in Group 1, and both are about the far-left lane when there are three or more lanes in the same direction.

  • Was №38, now №34: passenger cars in populated areas.
  • Was №39, now №35: motorcycles on all roads.

Remember. The correct answer to both is now the same: "Permitted in both of the above cases", meaning when overtaking and when turning left or making a U-turn. Before, the correct answer was "Permitted when turning left or making a U-turn."

How to prepare now

  1. First confirm the date on roadpolice.am: if your exam is soon, find out whether the new questions are already included.
  2. Start with the groups that changed most by our comparison: Group 8 (80 to 55, 28 removed), Group 3 (78 to 59, 19 removed, 0 new) and Group 2 (72 to 82, 17 added). Then go through the other groups.
  3. Look at the questions section, especially №34 and №35 in Group 1. If you studied from saved notes or a PDF, check the numbers against the official bank.
  4. Test yourself in the exam simulation. By our earlier article the format has not changed: a 3-question psychological test and a 20-question knowledge test, where you need at least 18 correct answers to pass.

If your exam is before roughly 1 November, prepare with both banks, old and new: in those days both previous and new questions may come up. After that approximate date, prepare with the new bank. This is our advice based on the Ministry's announcement, not an official rule.

Test yourself

1. In a populated area with three or more lanes in one direction, may a passenger car use the far-left lane? Yes, in both cases: when overtaking and when turning left or making a U-turn.

2. And a motorcycle on any road under the same conditions? The same: permitted in both cases.

3. How many of the 20 knowledge-test questions must you answer correctly to pass? At least 18.

4. Are the A/B/C and D/T banks the same? No. On roadpolice.am they are two separate banks with 10 groups each.

The official banks are on the roadpolice.am page.

When new questions start: short answer.
