Group 10 · First aid · Question 25 of 51
To check circulation in an injured limb, press and release the nail below the bandage. Circulation in the limb is impaired if:
Choose an answer to check yourself.
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: The nail is slow to return to a pink color.
Explanation
Pressing the nail pushes blood out from under it and it turns white. With normal circulation, it turns pink again quickly after release. If the pink color is slow to return, circulation in the limb is impaired, for example because the bandage is too tight. Pain or discomfort is not what this test checks.
