Group 10 · First aid · Question 50 of 51
In which cases should an injured person be removed from the vehicle?
Choose an answer to check yourself.
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: If the vehicle has overturned, caught fire, there is a high risk of explosion, or the injured person has hypothermia, has lost consciousness or breathing, or it is impossible to provide first aid directly inside the vehicle.
Explanation
Moving a victim unnecessarily can make injuries worse, for example to the spine. So the victim is taken out of the car only when staying is more dangerous (high risk of overturning, fire or explosion, or hypothermia), when he is unconscious and not breathing, or when first aid cannot be given inside. Loss of consciousness, heavy bleeding or a head injury alone is not a reason.
