How to book your driving exam online on roadpolice.am and what to bring
Booking is done on roadpolice.am: log in to the platform, choose the registration and examination unit you prefer, then an available day and time. A four-digit code is then sent to the email address you gave; the MIA asks you to arrive at the unit 15 minutes before your slot, enter the code at the terminal and confirm you are there. If you did not book in advance, most services are also available in a live queue — take a ticket from the terminal (MIA notice of September 7, 2026, in Armenian).
To sit the theory exam for categories A, B and C and subcategories AM, A1, B1 and C1, you present the identity document in item 1 of the document list, and, once your data has been entered, the receipt for the state duty, after which you are photographed (Decision No. 385-N, Annex 1, points 11 and 12). A driving-school completion document is not required for these categories (Annex 2, item 5), and for Armenian citizens the examining authority receives medical data automatically from the ARMED system (point 11).
Where you are going: the 13 registration and examination units
The MIA publishes the list of units on the theory exam page of roadpolice.am (checked September 18, 2026). And the roadpolice.am home page says: for questions about a driving license, about registering or recording a vehicle, and about the booking system, call 060 83-83-02.

Booking online, step by step
- Log in to roadpolice.am with an ID card or with mobile ID through the EsEm platform (the sign-in block on the roadpolice.am home page).
- Pick the unit from the list above — whichever is easiest to reach.
- Pick an available day and time.
- Get the four-digit code, sent to the email address you gave when booking.
- Arrive 15 minutes early, enter the code at the terminal and confirm your attendance (MIA, 07.09.2026).
The 15 minutes are not a binding rule but a direct request from the MIA, so that service runs without interruptions. That margin also takes the edge off exam day. Booking is one of several things that changed this year — the rest are in what changed in 2026.
Or simply take a ticket: the live queue
If you have not booked, you go to the relevant unit, take a ticket from the terminal and wait your turn. The MIA notice says "most services" and does not list which ones, so call 060 83-83-02 in advance to check whether, in your case, you can sit the qualification exam without a booking.
What to bring
The mandatory document list is Annex 2 to Decision No. 385-N. For the theory exam in categories A, B, C and subcategories AM, A1, B1, C1 you need only items 1 and 2:
- An identity document (item 1): for Armenian citizens, a passport or ID card, and a military book for those doing compulsory fixed-term service. Foreign citizens present a passport or travel document plus proof of lawful residence in Armenia (a permanent or temporary residence card, or an RA special passport); stateless persons, a travel document and a residence certificate; recognized refugees and holders of political asylum, a convention travel document; asylum seekers and people under temporary protection, their own certificate. If you are not registered in the state population register, no license is issued — except for conscripts.
- The receipt for the state duty for accepting the exam (item 2), presented after your data has been entered into the computer; only then are you photographed (point 12).
For the practical exam you present items 1, 2 and 3 of the list (point 25).
On the medical certificate, the theory-exam rule is in point 11: foreign citizens and stateless persons submit the medical accreditation certificate on paper, and paper is also used in any case where the data cannot be retrieved from ARMED automatically. Details are in the article on medical documents.
What to pay before you go
- Theory exam: 3,000 AMD. This amount is not set in the Law "On State Duty" — the MIA publishes it on the FAQ page of roadpolice.am (checked 18.09.2026).
- Practical exam: 3,000 and 10,000 AMD. The list asks for two receipts, and they are different instruments: item 2 is the receipt for a state duty, item 3 the receipt for the service fee for accepting the practical exam. The state duty is 10,000 AMD — 10 times the base duty under Article 14, item 5.3 of the Law "On State Duty" (the base duty is 1,000 AMD, Article 8). The 3,000 AMD service fee is not priced in that law: that figure, again, comes only from the roadpolice.am page.
- Issuing the license: 12,000 AMD (12 times the base duty, Article 20, item 1), or 6,000 AMD for a digital-only license issued for the first time after passed qualification exams (item 1.1 of the same article).
Waiting periods for a retake, and the prices of the paid fast-track option, are in the article on fees and retakes.
In the exam room, and afterwards
Before the theory exam starts, the employee accepting it explains how it will be conducted (point 13), and its course is shown on a screen in the waiting room (point 19). At the end, your identity document and the receipt are returned — the receipt stamped "USED" (point 21). If you passed, the result is attached immediately to your electronic file for obtaining a license, and you may take the practical exam within two years (point 22, as amended by Decision No. 979-N of July 2, 2026, in force since July 4).
The whole path to the license is in the article on the steps to a driver's license.
What the MIA does not publish
Several things are not published officially, and there is no point guessing: the units' opening hours, how far ahead slots open, what happens if you miss one, and whether the live queue's "most services" includes the qualification exams themselves. All four answers come from one place: 060 83-83-02.
Booking a slot is the easy part; the hard part starts once you sit down at the computer. Before that day, work through practice by topic, read the theory chapters, and run the exam simulation in the official format at least once.
Short answer: where and how the theory exam is held.
