Where and how is the driving theory exam held in Armenia

Where it is held The theory exam is a computer-based test taken at one of the Ministry of Internal Affairs registration and examination units. There are 13 units: Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor, Metsamor, Nor Gyugh, Mkhchyan-Hovtashen, Ashtarak, Kapan, Goris, Ijevan, Sevan, Martuni and Yeghegnadzor. How to book, step by step

1. Log in to roadpolice.am. You can sign in with an ID card or with mobile identification via the "EsEm" platform.
2. Choose the service "Վարորդական վկայական ստանալու տեսական քննություն" (theory exam for obtaining a driving license), then the unit that suits you.
3. Choose an available day and time and enter your email address.
4. A four-digit code will be sent to that email.
5. Arrive at the unit 15 minutes before your booked time, enter the code at the terminal and confirm your presence.

What to bring and how to pay

• An identity document (for Armenian citizens: a passport or ID card) and the receipt for the state fee. A driving-school certificate is not required for categories A, B, C and subcategories AM, A1, B1, C1. Full list: Documents needed for the driving theory exam.
• The state fee for the theory exam is 3,000 AMD. You can pay online through the e-payments system, by bank transfer, or on the spot at the payment terminal in the unit.

Without a booking According to the Ministry's announcement of 7 September 2026, if you did not book in advance, most services can also be used through the live queue: you take a ticket at the unit's terminal and wait your turn. The Ministry does not list which services. On hartak.am the theory exam is listed as a service used by booking a visit in advance, so booking is the safer choice.

How the exam goes Before the exam a staff member explains the procedure and you are photographed. You can take the test in Armenian, Russian, English, Persian or Arabic, as you choose. It has two parts: a psychological test of 3 questions and 20 knowledge questions. You get 30 minutes. License replacement. For a replacement you also book through roadpolice.am, choosing the option "Վարորդական վկայականի փոխանակում (այդ թվում՝ կորած)" (license exchange, including a lost one). Details: Driving license replacement.
