How the exam is built
The exam is a computer test in two parts. First comes the psychological test with 3 questions. If you answer all three correctly, the 20 knowledge-test questions open. They are chosen at random from different sections of the MIA question bank:
- 2 questions from the Law on Ensuring Road Traffic Safety
- 15 questions from the traffic rules
- 2 questions on faults and conditions that prohibit operating a vehicle
- 1 question on the safety of road users and first aid
The law does not describe what the psychological test contains, so on bibip group 11 stands in for it: see Group 11: colour tables.
What happens if you make a mistake
It depends on where the mistake is:
- In the psychological test. One mistake is enough: the knowledge test does not open and the theory exam is not passed.
- In the knowledge test. With 2 mistakes you still pass (18 correct out of 20). After a third mistake you have fewer than 18 correct answers and the exam is not passed.
- When time runs out. The test stops.

Where the questions come from and how many there are
The MIA compiles the knowledge-test question bank and publishes it on its official site. On 2 October 2026 it published new question banks: 1050 questions for categories A, B and C, of which 11 are new. New questions may enter the tests 30 days after publication. Categories D and T have a separate bank.
bibip has had the 1050-question bank for categories A, B and C since 5 October 2026.

How many mistakes are allowed on the theory exam?
At most 2 in the 20-question knowledge test, because you need at least 18 correct answers. No mistakes are allowed in the 3-question psychological test.
How many questions are on the driving exam in Armenia?
23 in total: 3 in the psychological test and 20 in the knowledge test. Each question has 2 to 5 answer options and only one is correct.
What happens if I make a mistake in the psychological test?
The knowledge test does not open and the theory exam is not passed. You are allowed to answer the knowledge questions only if every psychological-test question was answered correctly.
How much time do I get for the theory exam?

In Armenian, Russian, English, Persian or Arabic, at the candidate's choice. This is set by point 14 of Annex 1 to Government Decision No. 385-N.
